Writing in Darkness is made possible by the donation / patronage model. Advertisements are quickly becoming an antiquated, ineffective way for online publications to stay afloat, and using them results in an ugly site and a worse reader experience. Paywalls are a nascent model and still repulsive to wide groups of readers on established, famous platforms; on a brand new site, they would turn off everybody who would have been interested. The future for online publication (and creativity of any kind) seems to rest in the hands of patronage.
Writing in Darkness collects money primarily from its Patreon page, which can be found here:
Pledging three dollars or more a month will get you access to articles before they are published and before they are included in the next issue, as well as access to exclusive content like interviews with the authors.
If you do not wish to commit a monthly pledge, you can instead choose to donate a one-time sum via the site's Paypal:
Paypal donations do not come with the benefits of patronage.
Whether or not you chose to become a patron or send a donation, your consideration and readership are deeply appreciated. Thank you for being here.
